TabandSlot.com Another Video about Designing for Tube Laser. I have been getting a lot of questions about how I modeled this joint on our trade show display.

    SW can pre-normalize things for bent sheet metal, but i'm not sure about tubing

    great video definitely helped me out with my new machine quick question if you have the knowlege im using fusion 360 instead of solid works and im trying to wrap a 2d design around a square filleted tube i can do this with round tube but cannot wrap around a square filletted solid suggestions?

    with SW18 you can directly convert tube to sheet metal part and unbend it ina very easy way !

    Found this very informative! But it's a decade old! And Solidworks still doesn't have a great flattening feature for tube that I'm aware of! By the way, your website doesn't work anymore.

      No, tube laser cutting is lot more eficient. The problem is solidworks is not able to do laser cuting modelisation

    Very nice. I watched a few others but they did not take into account how the laser actually cuts the tube.

    this works only on simple cuts and simple tubes, if you have some tube that is bent in very complicated geometry, this is not happening

    Is this possible to adding it to design library and work with different tube dimensions? Or you mast have the same tube shape, dimensions, and ark to work fine?

    can you explain or share this 3D in .sldprt?? i really need to understand what command you used to get a normalized surface just with 1 click.

    How did you close up the slot you added when you split the part open before converting to sheet metal? Neither extrusions appear to be working without adding a sketch over the face.

    This is a very good work around for getting the flattened tube length. Your website is not working for me.

    Great videos! I'm surprised that there are no decent functions in SW for this. It also seems to work if you model your tube as a surface model (with the cuts) and then use the "thicken" function to make it a solid body with normalized cuts.

    • @Sporkaa
      @Sporkaa 4 года назад

      Doing a zero-offset of the inside/outside surface of the tube (depending on which side of the tube the features are critical on) and then using the Thicken feature on the resulting surface is the much more accurate and correct method of doing this. The Thicken feature will always produce solid geometry normal to the profile. Also, that method will work regardless as to how the features were added to the tube.

    is there anyway I can fill a gap in the round tube after i convert it into sheet metal ? the filling gap method seems only work on square tube ?
